JUMPSTART PROGRAM FOR
AUTOCAD CIVIL 3D
When an organization
decides to make the
migration from their old
design platform to
AutoCAD Civil 3D, there
are some fundamental
items that must be
addressed before they
can train all of the
users. The first item is
styles creation. Most
firms want their
deliverables to look the
same in AutoCAD Civil 3D
as they did in their old
design software. This
means styles and
standards must be
developed to allow for
simple creation of the
same deliverables.
Secondly, to harness the
power of AutoCAD Civil
3D, the organization's
processes and workflows
must change. Since these
two items must be
completed before
training the entire
organization is
possible, we created the JumpStart Program to
give organizations an easy
and quick way to start
their migration process.
WHAT THE JUMPSTART
PROGRAM INCLUDES
Eagle Point's
JumpStart Program for
AutoCAD Civil 3D
includes 4 days of
onsite Civil 3D
implementation work. The
first 1.5 days are
dedicated to styles
creation and training,
the next 2 days detail
process creation and
training, and the last
half day is used to
train key people on how
to use the Task
Navigator within Civil
3D.
DAYS 1-2 (1.5):
An Eagle Point
engineer works with the
selected styles owner(s)
to create styles for a
certain project type.
As they work together,
the styles are created
and the owner(s) learn how
to create new styles, modify
existing styles, and
manage the styles and
templates. It is
imperative to learn how
to create and modify
styles because style
creation is an on-going
job. Many times a new
project requires a
new style to be created or an
old style to be
modified. The styles owner(s)
need to be able to handle
this dynamic work without having
to rely on outside
consultants.
DAYS 2-4 (2): An Eagle
Point engineer works with the
subject matter experts
from a certain project
type. The engineer
interviews the subject matter
experts to determine how work gets done
today. Then, using that
knowledge, the engineer
fine tunes the existing process to
include AutoCAD Civil 3D
technology. This ensures the
company can keep its existing process
and immediately be
able to take
advantage of the
powerful features in
AutoCAD Civil 3D.
During this time,
the process owner(s)
are trained on how
to create new processes.
This is imperative
because new processes
need to be
created and old
processes modified to take
advantage of new
functionality or to
document processes for
different project types.
DAY 4 (.5):
During the final half day, an
Eagle Point engineer
trains
a select group of pilot
users on how to
use the Task Navigator
to walk through the
processes created during
days 2-4.
This allows a small
group of people to get
accustomed to using
AutoCAD Civil 3D
and the processes while
the Eagle Point engineer
is still there to answer
questions and fine tune
the solution.
