Why is Eagle Point transitioning its clients to Civil 3D?

For over 26 years, Eagle Point Software has been developing solutions for civil engineers and surveying professionals. Early on, we developed solutions to operate independently from other software systems. In 1989, we made a shift to build solutions to run on the most popular and powerful CAD platform available – AutoCAD. Throughout the following 20 years, we experienced the challenges our clients faced and continually evolved our solutions to address them.

In recent years, we have seen these platforms evolve to address many of those same challenges. This evolution has created an environment of duplicated features and redundancy between the Eagle Point solutions and the current Autodesk platforms. In many cases, this means our clients are paying twice to receive similar functions to aid in solving their current design challenges.

Just like in 1989, it’s time to make another shift in development platforms.

Since the initial release of AutoCAD Civil 3D by Autodesk in 2004, we recognized that it would eventually become the development platform of the future. More and more organizations are benefitting by migrating from traditional 2D design solutions to 3D design solutions, like AutoCAD Civil and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D, which support Building Information Modeling (BIM). However, to be the ultimate development platform that we knew it could be, AutoCAD Civil 3D needed a few years to mature.

Traditional 2D Civil Engineering and Survey solutions no longer adequately address the demands and challenges professionals face today. With AutoCAD Civil 3D now in its 5th major release, we are excited about standardizing on AutoCAD Civil 3D as our development platform. This means that we are able to focus our energy on developing new technologies that help you complete your land development, transportation, and environmental projects better, faster and more affordably than ever before.

However, in doing so, we realize it is crucial that we provide you with an easy and affordable migration path from your current Eagle Point design products running with AutoCAD to AutoCAD Civil 3D and including our new suite of supporting products.

We are very pleased to announce that Eagle Point and Autodesk are jointly offering you an easy mechanism to make this transition. By taking advantage of this transition program, you will enjoy dramatic savings. Eagle Point has solutions to assist you in the transition by allowing you to start taking advantage of the new capabilities of AutoCAD Civil and AutoCAD Civil 3D immediately. To further ease your transition, we will have releases of the traditional Eagle Point Civil Design modules available through November 2011. However, beginning November 2010, Eagle Point will no longer offer subscriptions on its civil engineering and surveying products. Beginning November 2011, support and replacement authorization codes will no longer be available.

And finally, we will provide you with the expertise that only Eagle Point has to consult and train you as you move from your Eagle Point products to AutoCAD Civil 3D.

What if I'm an Autodesk reseller and am interested in working with Eagle Point?

At Eagle Point, we keep an open mind regarding working with all Autodesk resellers. We currently have a
channel partner program which allows you, as an Autodesk reseller, to resell Eagle Point software dedicated
to aiding clients in transitioning from Eagle Point to AutoCAD Civil 3D. As a channel partner, you will receive aggressive margins, assistance in closing sales and more.

If you are not eligible for the channel partner program or it is not right for your organization at this time, we also have a finder’s fee program which gives you the opportunity to earn 15% on any proprietary Eagle Point products sold to a client that you bring to Eagle Point.
