  • Getting Started with Civil Cells

    Getting Started with Civil Cells
    (Course Duration: 20 minutes)

    Course Description
In this course, you will be introduced to Civil Cells and learn how they can be leveraged in your OpenRoads Designer models. Civil Cells are a collection of design features that can be applied and associated to elements in a design file. Civil Cells use rules and relationship to bind elements for dynamic modeling and interactive parametric editing. You can use Civil Cells for many grading tasks, including to grade intersections, roundabouts, cul-de-sacs, curb ramps, and much more.

    Course Objectives
The material presented in this course will get you started with Civil Cells and teach you how to:
Place Civil Cells into a design file
Identify elements within a Civil Cell
Edit reference elements and Civil Cell geometry

    Course Prerequisites
To participate in this training course, you should have the following:
    General knowledge of OpenRoads Designer

    Tips:
Turn off your phone, close your email, text and social media apps.
Plug headphones or ear buds to your computer.
Go Full Screen when watching videos.

  • Grading T-Intersections with Civil Cells

Grading T-Intersections with Civil Cells Course Introduction
    (Course Duration: 35 minutes)

    Course Description
In this course, you will learn how to grade an intersection in OpenRoads Designer using Civil Cells. Civil Cells are a collection elements that can used to layout and grade common site features, including Roadway Intersections. The T-Intersection Civil Cell that is used in this course, consists of complex elements that define the key intersection grading features. Linear Templates are used to grade the curve returns, and a terrain with surface template, are used to model the pavement. This course will follow a common workflow to layout and grade a T-Intersection using multiple Civil Cells. In addition to the T-Intersection Civil Cell a Turn Lane Civil Cell and Island Civil Cell will be used in the intersection design.

    Course Objectives
The material presented in this course teach you how to:
Remove Corridor components through an intersection
    Place a T-Intersection Civil Cell
    Edit Civil Cell geometry
Add a Turn Lane to the T-Intersection
    Place an Island Civil Cell
Report Corridor component Quantities in the intersection

    Course Prerequisites
To participate in this training course, you should have completed the following:

  • Grading Curb Ramps using Civil Cells

Grading Curb Ramps with Civil Cells
    (Course Duration: 30 minutes)

    Course Description
In this course, you will learn how to use the curb ramp Civil Cells in OpenRoads Designer. The “out of the box” curb ramps include a single perpendicular curb ramp and three modular parallel curb ramps. These curb ramps allow you to accurately model ramp landings and curb transitions in little time and with minimal effort. The fully graded curb ramps bind to reference elements in our design file to acquire elevations and grades. If the reference elements are edited, the curb ramp Civil Cells will automatically update to reflect the changes. Curb Ramps leverage rules and relationships to constrain geometry, making them easier to edit and manipulate after they are placed into your models.

    Course Objectives
The material presented in this course teach you how to:
Place a Curb Ramp Perpendicular Civil Cell
Place a Curb Ramp Parallel Landing Civil Cell
Place a Curb Ramp Parallel Left & Right Civil Cell
Reposition and Edit Curb Ramp Civil Cells
Transition Sidewalk through Curb Ramp Civil Cell Perpendicular

    Course Prerequisites
To participate in this training course, you should have completed the following:
    OpenRoads Designer Fundamentals
    Getting Started with Civil Cells

    Tips:
Turn off your phone, close your email, text and social media apps.
Plug headphones or ear buds to your computer.
Go Full Screen when watching videos.

  • Grading Driveway Entrances using Civil Cells

Grading Driveway Entrances using Civil Cells
    (Course Duration: 30 minutes)

    Course Description
In this course, you will learn how to use the Rural and Urban Entrance Civil Cells that are included with OpenRoads Designer. The Entrance Civil Cells make grading driveways quick and easy. The Civil Cells associate to corridor features and update if the corridor model is edited. Using the heads-up display and Properties, you can manipulate the Civil Cell geometry and matchlines to refine the grading model. Entrance Civil Cells can be defined as clipped corridor boundaries to seamlessly blend the driveway entrance into the corridor model.

    Course Objectives
The material presented in this course teach you how to:
Place a Rural Entrance Civil Cell
    Edit Rural Entrance Geometry
    Edit Rural Entrance Matchlines
Place an Urban Entrance Civil Cell
    Edit Urban Entrance Geometry
    Edit Urban Entrance Matchlines

    Course Prerequisites
To participate in this training course, you should have completed the following:
    OpenRoads Designer Fundamentals
    Getting Started with Civil Cells

    Tips:
Turn off your phone, close your email, text and social media apps.
Plug headphones or ear buds to your computer.
