Course Description
In this course, you will learn how to work with Surface object. A surface is a thin shell that does not have mass or volume. AutoCAD provides two types of surfaces: procedural surfaces and NURBS surfaces. Use procedural surfaces to take advantage of associating surfaces with their defining curves. Use NURBS surfaces to take advantage of sculpting with control vertices.
Course Objectives
The material presented in this course teach you how to:
· Understand Surface modeling offers fine control over curved surfaces for precise manipulation and analysis.
· Learn how to create non-planar surfaces in the space between edge sub-objects, splines, and other 2D and 3D curves.
· Understand Network surfaces created with SURFNETWORK are similar to lofted surfaces in that they are created in the space between several curves in the U and V directions.
· Learn how the Fillet command creates a filleted surface between two other surfaces.
· Change the shape of NURBS surfaces and curves by using the 3D Edit Bar or by editing control vertices.
· Display lines that appear on the curved surfaces of 3D solids with several visual styles including wireframe. Encompasses the display lines on both 3D solids (ISOLINES) and surfaces (SURFU, SURFV).
Course Prerequisites
To participate in this training course, you should have the following:
· None
(Course Duration: 12 minutes)
In this course, you will learn how to document 3D model data created in AutoCAD, using View and Annotation commands.
· Learn how to create base, orthogonal, and isometric projected views from 3D solids and surfaces in model space.
· Learn how to create a section view that is projected from an existing drawing view, where you use a section line to cut through the drawing view in order to reveal what is inside.
· Understand how to create a model cross section view by slicing the entire length of the object being sectioned.
· Learn how to generate detail views from model documentation drawing views.
· Understand how to constrain view geometry and the detail boundary together.
(Course Duration: 15 minutes)
In this course, you will be introduced to the point cloud tools in AutoCAD. A point cloud is a large collection of points acquired by 3D laser scanners or other technologies to create 3D representations of existing structures.
· Learn how to crop a point cloud much the same as you can clip an external reference, image file, or other type of attached file.
(Course Duration: 3 minutes)
In this course, you will learn how to use the AutoCAD 3D design tools.
· Use the Extrude command creates a solid or surface that extends the shape of a curve.
· Learn how to create a 3D solid or surface by stretching curves into 3D space.
· Learn how to create helix is an open 2D or 3D spiral.
· Use the 3DPOLY command to create a 3D polyline.
(Course Duration: 10 minutes)
In this course, you will learn how to use edit 3D object created with AutoCAD. Modify 3D features, patterns, and adjust view.
· Understand how 3D gizmos help you move, rotate, or scale a set of objects along a 3D axis or plane.
· Learn how to edit rectangular arrays, items are distributed into any combination of rows, columns, and levels.
· Understand how to use grips to change the shape and size of primitive solids and polysolids.
· Learn how to Extract solid edges creates wireframe geometry from the edges of a 3D solid, surface, mesh, region, or sub-object.
· Learn how to Separate solids that have been combined by the union operation.
· Learn how to create a 2D or 3D section.
· Understand how to document a three-dimensional part, by creating create two-dimensional orthographic views of the 3D model in order to produce working drawings.
(Course Duration: 25 minutes)
In this course, you will learn how to use mesh model tools that consists of vertices, edges, and faces that use polygonal representation. Mesh surfaces can be used to create complex shapes that do not have mass properties until the mesh is converted in to a solid.
· Create meshes by filling the space between other objects such as lines and arcs.
· Create 3D models from mesh surfaces using Boolean operations
· Convert existing solid or surface models, including composite models, to mesh objects (MESHSMOOTH).
· Add creases to sharpen mesh edges.
(Course Duration: 10 minutes)
