Design Alignments and Profiles Fundamentals (Course Duration: 35 minutes)
Course Description In this course you will learn the fundamental tools to create, edit, and annotate civil geometry in OpenRoads Designer. Horizontal and Vertical geometry are required to create a 3D model, or corridor, for a road design. The horizontal geometry is used to layout the alignment and is the parent feature for the vertical geometry, or design profile. In this course we’ll address a few common tools and approaches to get you started with the layout and grading of your alignments and profiles.
Course Objectives The material presented in this course teach you how to: Create Geometry Design File Create Design Alignments Edit Design Alignments Label/Annotate Alignments Getting Started with Profiles Create Design Profiles Edit Design Profiles
Corridor Modeling Fundamentals Course Introduction (Course Duration: 60 minutes)
Course Description In this course you will learn the basics of corridor modeling including the common workflow, tools and concepts to get started in OpenRoads Designer. Corridor models bring together the alignment, profile, and templates to create a detailed 3D model used for finish grade construction and quantity reporting. You can use many tools and techniques to model your corridors and this course will establish the foundation that you can build on to model even the most complex corridors.
Course Objectives The material presented in this course teach you how to: Create a corridor model Add template drops to a corridor View corridor models Edit corridor templates Use point controls to override templates Use parametric constraints to override templates Use end condition exceptions to change daylight slopes Calculate and assign superelevation to a corridor Calculate and report earthwork and material quantities Create and export corridor surfaces

Pad Grading Fundamentals Course Introduction (Course Duration: 50 minutes)
Course Description In this course, you will learn the how to use rule-based design to grade a small site that includes a building pad, parking pad, and access road. Using rule-based design allows you to create relationships with grading features to automate updates as changes occur. This includes setting pad elevations relative to a surface, creating a design profile at a given slope from another civil feature, and anchoring a design profile to an intersection of civil features. As the grading evolves you can analyze earthwork volumes and make interactive refinements to achieve a cost effective grading solution. This course will follow a typical design workflow that you can apply to your design products, regardless of whether you leverage the rule-based approach. The content in this course is also applicable to OpenSite and OpenRail Designer.
