Workflow Processes:

  • Civil 3D Project Data Shortcuts Setup

This process will walk through creating drawings for a project that utilize data shortcuts.

To use data shortcuts, set the working folder, then set the data shortcut folder for a specific project.

From the project drawings, create data shortcuts for objects out of their source drawing. Reference those objects via the data shortcut link into other project drawings where the object data is needed.

When a source object for a data shortcut is modified and the drawing saved, all the references to that object can be or will be updated.

Example: New design drawings are (typically) created and object data from an existing base drawing, such as the EG surface in a Project X – ExBase.dwg , is connected to each design drawing as needed via data shortcuts. When the EG surface is updated, the design drawings would update as they are opened, or if already open a notification window will appear.

  • Convert Land Desktop Project

Use the project data in a Land Desktop project folder to create Civil 3D objects for a project.

  • Convert Eagle Point Project

This process walks through exporting data via LandXML out of Eagle Point, importing that data into Civil 3D, then bringing in any additional graphic entities or data.
