Workflow Processes:

  • Create Custom Pipe Part

This process outlines the fundamental tasks and steps that will help you create a custom pipe part using the Autodesk Civil 3D Part Builder.

The Part Builder uses a unique set of tools and features to construct and constrain part geometry. AutoCAD drafting tools cannot be used to create the parts, but can be used as an aid, or blueprint, to construct the part builder geometry. This process suggests using AutoCAD to initially draft the part, then recreate the part using COL features within Part Builder.

IMPORTANT: Before using Part Builder to create or modify pipe network parts, it is important that you create and save a backup copy of the AutoCAD Civil 3D pipe network part catalogs and support files. These files are installed by default in the following location: C:ProgramDataAutodeskC3D 201XenuPipes Catalog. Create and save a backup copy of this folder and its contents, including all subfolders and their corresponding content.
