• Create Rail Design

  This process outlines the tasks and steps for performing a railroad design in Civil 3D. The Rail Design process is very similar to roadway design processes, but incorporates design principles unique to railway. In this process a new alignment object will be introduced, along with new features to design curves using the degree of curvature based on unit chord length, calculating cant from design criteria files, and creating a rail assembly.

  This process will walk through the design of a rail corridor using a centerline alignment and profile with one design typical section or assembly. After checking the design, it also outlines steps for making common revisions.
