Getting Started in Recap Course Introduction
(Video Viewing Time: 52 minutes)
Course Description
Autodesk ReCap Pro is a software program that helps designers and engineers create 3D models and 2D drawings of real-world assets using reality capture and 3D scanning. It can be used for: Surveying, planning, construction, and renovating building and infrastructure projects.
In this course you’ll learn about reality capture, what it is, why it’s a valuable data source for your projects, and how Autodesk ReCap can process large reality captured datasets into digital models that you can quickly and easily explore. The collection of videos presented in this course will teach you the basics and prepare you to get started in ReCap.
NOTE: If you still have questions after completing this course, see the ReCap library in Pinnacle Series for more training videos. You’ll find over 60 videos covering a broader range of ReCap tools, and that go further in-depth on other common workflows.
Course Objectives
The material presented in this course teach you how to:
Leverage reality capture on AEC projects
Get around within the user interface Opening a Point Cloud project Navigate a Point Cloud Use the mini-map to quickly observe Scan Locations Create view states Add distance dimensions Measure angles in a Point Cloud

Scan Projects Course Introduction
(Video Viewing Time: 42 minutes)
Course Description
A scan project in ReCap involves importing and merging individual scans files into a cohesive point cloud that you can view and interrogate in Autodesk ReCap. The datasets can originate from a number of data formats, but must go through a registration and indexing process to aggregate the data. In Autodesk Recap, this data can be automatically registered, or manually registered. This course focuses on the automatic registration process.
NOTE: To learn more about the manual registration process, including how to add targets, see the training videos from the ReCap library in Pinnacle Series.

Photo Projects Course Introduction
(Video Viewing Time: 34 minutes)
A photo project in ReCap involves uploading photos to ReCap’s “Photo-to-3D Web Service”, processing and stitching the photos into a 3D mesh, and exporting the 3D models to formats that can be used in other software applications. This course goes in the basic workflow used to create a 3D model from a collection of photos. You’ll learn how to start a project, apply a scale to photos, and download the 3D model to a mesh.
NOTE: To learn more about photo projects and many other ReCap tools and workflows, explore the 60+ training videos in the Pinnacle Series Recap library.
NOTE: Due to Photo projects requiring Cloud Credits to process photos into a 3D model, there is no Exercise included with this course.
