Managing and Sharing Data Course Introduction (Course Duration: 37 minutes)
Course Description In this course, you will learn how to use Data Shortcuts to share data with other team members and to keep your drawing files smaller and more manageable. Data Shortcuts allow you to create read only copies of Civil 3D objects in multiple project drawings, while maintaining a link to the source drawing. If the Civil 3D objects are edited in the source drawing, all Data References will be updated when the host drawing is reloaded, or can be synchronized on demand. Data Shortcuts are essential to work sharing so you can have multiple team members working on the project at the same time, but they also allow you to keep drawing files smaller so you can improve processing speeds when working with large datasets.

Course Description In this course, you will learn how to create Plan and Profile sheets using the Plan Production tools in Civil 3D. The Plan Production tools for creating Plan and Profile sheets is a 2-step process. The first step is to create the View Frames, or the plan cutouts, then create the Profile Views and Sheets. The Sheet templates, along with command settings and styles, allow you to produce sheets with great flexibility. Points, Lines, and Curves Course Introduction
(Course Duration: 50 minutes)
In this course you will learn the fundamental concepts about points, and how Civil 3D tools can help you draw lines and curves for surveying and engineering tasks.
Points Objects are used on the vast majority of survey and engineering projects for various tasks and applications. Civil 3D has two different point types that include Survey Points and COGO Points. Survey Points are created from the Survey Database, and COGO Points are created directly in the drawing file using the Civil 3D place point tools. This course addresses tools around COGO points, but many principles of point objects can be applied to both point types.
Lines and Curves define the most basic and foundational geometry for Civil 3D objects. AutoCAD provides many tools for drawing lines and curves, but the Civil 3D tools make it easier to construct lines and curves for surveying and engineering tasks. This course will review some of the more common line and curve tools that you can add to your productivity toolset.

Course Description In this course, you will learn about Surfaces in Civil 3D. Surfaces are used in Civil 3D to model existing and proposed terrains on your Land Development projects. Surfaces can be created from a variety of 3D data, and are used for many purposes, including to display and label elevation contours, analyze slopes, and calculate earthwork quantities. To model your surfaces correctly for these important tasks it is essential to understand how to create and edit surface objects. This course is a foundational building block for working with surfaces in Civil 3D and will prepare you for tackling more advanced tasks.

Point Clouds Course Introduction (Course Duration: 23 minutes)
Course Description In this course, you will learn how to leverage Point Clouds in your Civil 3D drawings. To use Point Clouds in Civil 3D you need to use Autodesk Recap to create a Point Cloud Project or Scan file. This will require that you have Autodesk Recap installed, and that you have a limited knowledge of creating the RCP and RCS files that are required by Civil 3D. Once you have the necessary Point Cloud project, or scan, files you can reference the Point Cloud into Civil 3D and create a Surface.

Parcels Course Introduction (Course Duration: 35 minutes)
Course Description In this course, you will learn how to work with Parcels in Civil 3D. Parcels can be used in a variety of ways on your Land Development projects, including to subdivide property, denote land use and coverage areas, illustrate project and/or construction phasing, and for any other geometry delineation you may require. Parcels are Civil 3D objects created from CAD geometry and include extended data that can be useful for analysis, reporting, and detailing. Parcels can be subdivided into smaller Parcels using design criteria that includes minimum area, minimum frontage, setback distance, and minimum width and depth dimensions. Once you have added Parcels into your drawing files, you can perform Inverse and Mapcheck analysis, label Parcel segments and areas, and create Parcel reports.

Feature Lines and Gradings (Course Duration: 55 minutes)
Course Description In this course, you will learn about Feature Lines, Gradings, and Grading Groups in Civil 3D, and how to leverage them to grade your designs. Feature lines are 3D objects which can be used as grading footprints, surface breaklines, and as corridor baselines. Feature Lines are used to create projection grading, or Gradings, that target surfaces, elevations, and distances. Gradings that are added to Feature Lines will update with changes made to the Feature Line. The Grading Group is a collection of Gradings and is used to create an Automatic Surface that can be used for volume calculation and balancing. Collectively, these objects can be used to grade your designs, while maintaining a fluid and dynamic 3D model.

Alignments Course Introduction (Course Duration: 46 minutes)
Course Description In this course, you will learn how to create and work with alignments in Civil 3D. Alignments can be used for a variety of purposes in your design projects, including to layout a roadway design, drainage, pressure network, and construction baselines. Depending on the purpose for the alignment, Civil 3D provides many tools to layout, design, and label alignments. Alignments are a core design objects in Civil 3D and have many direct and indirect dependencies. Editing alignments with dependencies will cause a ripple effect that will keep your designs up to date. Centerline alignments can be assigned Design Criteria to keep your projects in compliance with design standards and notify when a violation occurs. The Design Criteria Files that you assign to the alignment can also be used to calculate the superelevation.

Profiles and Profile Views Course Introduction (Course Duration: 50 minutes)
Course Description In this course, you will learn how to create and edit Profiles and Profile Views in Civil 3D. Profiles define the vertical elevations for alignments and can only exist if there is an alignment. The surface profile represents the alignment elevation when draped over a surface, and the design profile is constructed from lines and curves to set the proposed grade. To view Profiles in Civil 3D you need to use a Profile View. The Profile View has a unique coordinate system defined from the same parent alignment as the Profile. The Profile Views are used for design layout, viewing, and to illustrate profiles in your final deliverables.

Course Description In this course, you will learn about Assemblies and Subassemblies in Civil 3D. Assemblies are a cornerstone to Corridor based modeling, and can be leveraged for a variety of land development designs. Assemblies are paired with alignments and profiles to create a complex 3D corridor model that can be used for machine control grading, volumes calculations, construction plans preparation, and for many other purposes. In this course you’ll be introduce to the Assembly object and learn how the “out of the box” subassemblies can be used to tailor your grading designs. Corridors Course Introduction (Course Duration: 36 minutes)
Course Description In this course, you will learn how to work with Corridor objects in Civil 3D. Civil 3D Corridors are complex 3-dimensional grading objects used to model roads, highways, and railways. Corridors combine alignments, profiles, feature lines, and assemblies into a single dynamic object to create propose grade surfaces, calculate earthwork and pavement quantities, and produce fully labeled cross section sheets.
Corridor objects are very powerful and can be used to create a wide array of grading features in your engineering design projects. This course will teach you the fundamentals to get started with Corridors so you can hit the ground running.

Course Description In this course, you will learn how to work with Sample Lines and Section Views. Sample Lines are added to alignments at specified intervals, and at key geometry points, to sample other Civil 3D data sources in your drawing for the purpose of calculation end area volumes and plotting Section Views. Section Views are the portal used to display a cross section slice of the data sources that have been added sampled. Pipe Networks Course Introduction (Course Duration: 65 minutes)
Course Description In this course, you will learn how to layout, analyze, detail, and report on Gravity Networks in Civil 3D. Pipe Networks leverage the vast library of parametric structure and pipe parts to model existing and proposed water and sewer networks. Part Rules can be assigned to Pipe Network to keep you informed of any design violations, and the 3D pipe model can be used to locate interfaces or conflicts with other Pipe Networks. To size pipes and set grades for drainage design you can Analyze the Pipe Network.
