Project Setup

Create and setup your HEC-HMS project in preparation for river and basin delineation. This requires creating a project, set the project defaults, create the basin and terrain components, and associating the terrain data to the basin component.

Basin Delineation

Delineate the Subbasins and Reaches for your watershed. This is done by PreProcessing the Sinks and Drainage, followed by identifying Streams, locating the outfall, and delineating the elements.

Basin Parameters

Define the subbasin and reach parameters for the elements in the watershed.

Final Model Setup

Create the precipitation data for your project. This includes the Time-Series data, Meteorologic Model, and Control Specifications.

Compute Results

Compute the results for your HEC-HMS project. The flow data computed in this task will be used for HEC-RAS.

Export Data for HEC-RAS

In this process, the geometry and flow data created in HEC-HMS will be exported to GIS files. These files will then be imported into HEC-RAS and/or used to create hydrographs for floodplain analysis.
